HOW TO DRESS YOUR HOCKEY PLAYER

New to hockey? Getting all that gear on your player can feel overwhelming at first! Use this quick guide to make sure your player is dressed safely and ready to hit the ice.

Recommended order:

  1. Base layer/athletic clothing
  2. Shin guards & Hockey socks
  3. Hockey pants
  4. Skates
  5. Shoulder pads
  6. Elbow pads
  7. Neck guard
  8. Jersey
  9. Helmet
  10. Gloves
  11. Grab the stick and hit the ice!

A few reminders: All equipment should fit properly and allow your player to move comfortably. A neck guard and mouthguard should be part of the routine, and helmets should always be properly fitted and securely fastened.

We encourage younger players to start learning how to dress themselves. Building independence with their equipment is another great hockey skill!

If you're unsure about equipment fit or have questions about getting your player ready for the ice, reach out to your coach or Hockey Director—we're happy to help.
