8U Mites - Woodland
MITES PHILOSOPHY
We are excited to welcome you to our inaugural hockey season. Our goal is to provide a fun, positive, and engaging introduction to hockey where young players develop fundamental skills, confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love of the game. At the 8U level, the emphasis is on participation, skill development, and enjoying the hockey experience.
NMYHA follows the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), which recognizes that young players learn best through age-appropriate practices, small-area games, and cross-ice competition. Cross-ice hockey provides more puck touches, skating opportunities, decision-making, and game involvement, helping players develop skating, agility, balance, coordination, and hockey sense at an accelerated pace.
Our coaches are USA Hockey certified and committed to creating a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where every player has the opportunity to learn, improve, and have fun. As a USA Hockey-affiliated association, all players must maintain a current USA Hockey membership to participate.
Our focus is simple: build skills, foster teamwork, and create a lifelong passion for hockey.
